CLASSIC REFUGE CIRCUITCONTINENTAL ICE
Paso Marconi
A complete trekk that includes trails through ancient native forests, hikes through glacial moraines, and an ice trek on the Southern Ice Field with incredible views of Fitz Roy valley from the west bank. With overnight in the three refuges.
ITINERARY
DAY 1:
Pick up at the hotel starting at 8:30 am, arriving in Los Huemules Reserve about 17km away from El Chalten. From there, a 7km path is followed where we will see Laguna Azul and Verde to continue to Laguna Diablo, where Puesto Cagliero is located.
Once arrived, lunch is served and the afternoon remains free to walk around, rest or drink a delicious hot drink appreciating Cagliero Glacier from the lobby of the refuge.
At night dinner is served to go to rest early and recharge energy for the next day.
DAY 2:
At 6:30 a.m., after breakfast the trekking to Paso Marconi begins, lasting about 8 hours. On the way we will be able to see some spectacular glaciers (Cagliero, Neumeyer, Gorra Blanca) as well as glacial moraines with the presence of fossils, until we reach the Southern Ice Field, where the ice-trek begins to Marconi Pass. During the tour there will be brakes to eat a snack and have a full lunch. Once we have arrived at the Pass, and after taking a few pictures, the descent down the glacier to Estacion Marconi refuge begins, where we will have dinner and get comfortable to spend the second night.
DAY 3:
The day starts with breakfast contemplating the immensity of the west face of Fitz Roy and then we head to Piedra del Fraile refuge. The trekk begins on a glacial moraine and then a zip line is crossed to enter to the Eléctrico valley. On this day, the trails will easier and flat, offering views of several of the most emblematic peaks in the area. After trekking for 4 hours approximately, we will reach the last refuge, where lunch is served and you can spend the afternoon freely to do some activity or rest, and then eat a good barbecue accompanied by wine and guitar playing with the locals.
DAY 4:
After breakfast , we set out on a path of approx 7km bordering the Rio Eléctrico. There, you will be picked up by a transfer and taken back to El Chaltén.
